Model - Alex. Theme - Elegance

Drawing was a bit ropey and impatient today..didn’t spend more than 7 mins on anything - and it shows…and I should probably sharpen my pencils (that shows too). Sort of happy that I splodged way darker shadows than I usually do on one of the paintings though.

Model - Manuela. Supposed theme - Frolics.

Poses weren’t too adventurous, but I found out during the break it was because she was feeling lazy, after a hard day’s dancing. Honesty. Gotta love it! :)

Check out the double page spread painting!!* Decided to dabble in a little ink-pen & marker, as I’m not particularly enjoying drawing on this plain white pad. Need to get round to binding my new s/b this weekend!

*Scanning fail! :s

Model - Emma. Theme - Physical theatre…I don’t even know what that is supposed to mean. Good session. Music was a bit odd..The Stingray theme song followed by middle eastern chants didn’t quite juxtapose as well as they could have.

Got a bit lazy with the whole colour experimentation thing today. I also think I might hate Cretacolour’s 2B 5.6mm lead..

Model - Sonya, Theme - blooming flowers.

Today’s batch! Fairly happy with the paintings and a couple of the quick drawings..

Whew, after missing a week of art-ing due to work..and then being too lazy to scan stuff in last week, it feels like it’s been an eternity..Anyhoo

Model - Irina, theme - Mechanical poses. Very interesting & funny model with nice poses accompanied by amusing music.

Model - Harry. Theme - Meditation. Good poses, initially supplemented by amusing surfer-rock music.

So I can’t tell if it’s the fancy paper I’ve been using or just genuine artist’s block annoying me..but today was a pretty good session. Used my old cheapy pads and everything was right as rain…

Model - Fiona (different one), really good short poses. The white colour pencil makes the sketches look exactly 3 times better than they really are.

Another session of struggling with watercolours… I WILL BEAT THIS. haaaaa….

Model - Fiona. Scarily good at keeping still!

Struggled a bit to convey the luminance of the skin..my usual tricks & palette didn’t quite work. Think I need to get some better brushes too..my poor plastic ones are seriously dying.

Model - Sue. Accountant by day, model by night. Great poses! Theme was “Happy & Sad”

Started using my W&N Artists Watercolour pad, it’s not as blendy-absorbent as the Fluid pad I also use, but it does handle a good dousing. I probably should focus a little bit more on my drawing..but hmm.

Model - Antoinella, or Antoinetta…the guy that runs the class called her both for some reason.. Ronan sat in for the first 10 minutes as Antoinella/etta was running late!

Quite like the yellowy-browny painting I did…a nice departure from my usual purple/alzarin crimson palette! Might start using my WN Artist paints next week.. getting a little frustrated with the Cotmans :s *paint snobbery sigh*
